The Missions Committee has identified a new (to us) organization that could use food donations this summer. The Booker T. Washington Community Center in London, WV, originally the first black high school in the upper Kanawha Valley, began serving residents of London and surrounding communities in 1989. The Center closed in the early 2000s but, in 2016, was renovated and reopened with youth programs, art classes and anti-bullying and substance abuse programs. They also do community luncheons, food giveaways and blessing bags of foods that they send home with families. We are glad to do what we can to help this community organization, and there may be volunteer opportunities there in the future.
For the month of June, for the Center’s blessing bags, we are collecting items with pop-tops that kids might like, including:
Plus, they need boxes and/or shakers of salt. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Cipoletti, 304-541-7394 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Put on your walking shoes, we’re taking the “prayer gathering” on the road! We’ll meet the first Sunday of the month at different destinations. This event probably sounds intimidating to some of you….praying…in public??? Not to worry, if you’ve never done this before, we won’t be making a scene, just observing and praying. You don’t have to say a word if you don’t feel like it. Be prepared to be spiritually moved and have a new peace when you go home.
The next walk will be Sunday, July 4 at 5:00 pm. It will start on the river-side of the Capitol steps by the Lincoln Statue. An estimated time is 45 minutes. That includes walking and stopping at different spots.
Prayer walks move you to pray for what you see as you walk. Think a minute about what you might see on our Capitol grounds that you’d like to discuss with God. I’m sure He’ll put some surprises on our path. Bring a friend and take a prayer walk at 5:00, June 6, starting at the Lincoln statue on the Capitol steps. If you have any questions, contact Peggy Kiser-Crouch at 681-215-9181 or 304-345-0747 or email@example.com.
Faith and Family Night will be July 24 at Appalachian Power Park. They will have a pre- and post-game concert accompanied by fireworks and all the typical baseball park refreshments. We would like to get an awesome group rate but we need 20+ people interested in attending. Please call or text Melissa at (304)288-3797 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to express interest and reserve your ticket today! More information (prices and times) will follow in the next two weeks if we have established enough interest.
NEW! To request IMMEDIATE PRAYER CONCERNS, please notify Linda K Cipoletti by email (email@example.com), text or call (304) 541-1187. Linda will then notify those selecting to receive notices, that prayer has been requested
TO RECEIVE IMMEDIATE PRAYER CONCERN NOTIFICATIONS, send Linda an email asking to be added to that group.
Join us Sunday, July 18 at 11:30am for a Zoom meeting the missionaries to Zimbawe Dr. Emmanuel Mefor and Florence Mefor, a nurse, as they discuss what they do and how we can support them. The Zoom session and snacks will be available at the church; or contact the church if you'd like to join from the comfort of your home.
