Covenant House and Heart and Hand, our food pantry partners, are in need of cans of pork and beans, canned kidney or pinto beans, chili, beef stew,  canned meats, or Ramen noodles.  Thank you for leaving these in the white pantry bins in the EMUMC entryway during open hours Monday-Thursday 8am-1pm or on Sunday 8:30-11:30am.

The Charleston Transition Storage Center (TSC) at St. Marks Methodist Church on Washington Street provides storage lockers for up to 96 homeless individuals.  During weekly required check-ins, each person also receives social services and is connected with resources. If you could spend a couple hours one day each week or each month checking in locker owners or as a "personal shopper" helping clients select new clothing from the boutique at St. Marks, contact Jane Hange for details. More than 60 of our neighbors are currently safely storing their belongings at the TSC.

*ALL DONATIONS* may be brought to the church entryway, Monday-Thursday, 8 am - 1 pm; Sunday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm or call to schedule a drop-off.

The next prayer gathering will be at Andrews Floor and Wall Covering Company  on the West Side (Five Corners) Sept. 12 at 5:00pm.   Please join us as we go to the Lord and pray for this area of our community.  You do not have to say a word out loud but are more than welcome to say as many words as the Spirit moves you.

Sojourners.jpg

Sunday, Sept. 26 is the date of the second Sojourners Sunday pizza dinner this year. While we are still unable to serve at Sojourners, the primary facility serving homeless women and children in the Kanawha Valley, we will deliver dinner to the residents, now nearing capacity of 75.  Please contact Jane Hange  at 304-346-2055  or 304-546-9272 (voice or text) to sign up to donate drinks (nonperishable juices, please), salad, or cookies (homemade or purchased).  Any foods need to be labeled "for Sojourners" and  delivered to the EMUMC entryway or kitchen by 3pm on Sept. 26.  If you would like to donate toward the purchase of Bridge Road Hussons pizzas that we'll order and take to Sojourners that evening, please note  "Sojourners Pizza Dinner Fund" on the memo line of your check and deliver or mail it to the church. Sojourners has no cook on Sunday evenings so these dinners from friends are most appreciated.
